Spurs make a move too, Knicks play like they want out
by Andrew - posted Wednesday, February 20th, 2008
The West shakeup continues but the Spurs didn’t make waves, more of a ripple by grabbing Kurt Thomas for Francisco Elson (backup center, 2nd year player), Brent Barry (still out with calf injury) and a 2nd round pick. Not that it matters too much since SA wasn’t going to trot out Elson for 48 minutes, but he is averaging right around 13 points and 12 boards per 48…could work out for Seattle…um OK City.
Ron Artest could be on the move too away from Sacramento. The Kings blog/Artest trade watch is here. Interesting tidbit about that JKidd trade is the Mavs had to cut former Nevada star Nick Fazekas to fit everybody on their roster. Fazekas is 11th the NBDL in scoring this year at 19.1 and could be a late desperate pickup for Ainge if injuries haunt the C’s down low.
So the Knicks played like Isiah Thomas business/coaching skills made them tonite: a 124-84 thrashing at Philadelphia. Make that two 40 points losses in games on the road in division (there are only 8 for the whole year). I’m sure the Daily News will have a great back page for this tomorrow morning on the right side (or they better!). Some numbers from the game for NY: 23 turnovers, 23% 3-point shooting and defense that St. John’s could play better: Philly shot 57%! (49-86) and Andre Iguodala had a +41 in his 31 minutes of playing time. New show tomorrow (Thursday) to break down the Celtics and Warriors as well as some talk from that Nuggets game.
